Distrito thanks Bacolodnons

OUTGOING Bacolod City Councilor Caesar Distrito has expressed gratitude to the people of Bacolod for giving him the opportunity, not just for one term but for three consecutive terms to serve the city.

Distrito, who ended his term on June 30, said yesterday that he’s so grateful that he served the people of Bacolod for three consecutive terms.

“It’s a big honor to serve the city. With that legacy I was able to prove that anybody could become a public official and people will give you their trust because of a better performance,” he said.

In his last term, Distrito was elected as No.2 councilor and handles three most difficult positions in the City Council such as floor leader, chairperson of the committee on budget and finance, laws and ordinances, and urban planning and development.

“ It’s very hard and challenging job and I’m thankful to my colleagues in the City Council, thank you for the trust and confidence given to me,” Distrito said.

From July 2010 to June 2019, Distrito authored a total of 96 ordinances, 18 appropriation ordinances, and 3, 108 resolutions.

Among his notable ordinances are the anti-vandalism ordinance, the Katarungang Pambarangay Support Program ordinance, the comprehensive anti-smoking ordinance, the free school supplies and bags ordinance, the anti-bullying ordinance, the ordinance increasing the penalty of jaywalking, the June 18 charter day commemoration ordinance, the ordinance institutionalizing the TB Program of Bacolod City and the ordinance branding the City of Bacolod as the City of Smiles.

Distrito said it’s not an easy task to do and with pride and honor, he wanted to share his product of hardwork to Bacolodnons.

“With great pride I can say that i have worked with all effort and honesty the salary I have received from the government since I started serving as Councilor,” he said.

Distrito is also thankful that his mother Councilor Simplicia Distrito will also serve the city starting today.
