Abolition of Misamis Oriental Cares program 'possible'

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano said Friday, June 28, he might put

on hold his flagship health care program, Misamis Oriental Cares System (MisOr Cares), pending study of the Universal Health Care Law (UHCL).

Emano said if the MisOr Cares duplicates the UHCL, he would abolish the MisOr Cares and find another health care program different from the UHCL.

"We might suspend pending sa study sa UHCL depende kung aha mi mosulod kay dili pwede ma-duplicate," Emano said.

"Mag-ampo lang mi nga dili siya mobangga sa UHCL kay kung mobangga ako siyang isibog," he added.

The MisOr Cares was Emano's brainchild health care program after he was supposedly left with P1.2 billion debt by the previous administration when he assumed office as governor in 2013.

Since then, the program gained ground and has provided more than a million various health care services to the people of the province, especially the most needy.

Emano said Misamis Oriental will be the pilot province for the UHCL after it was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last February.
