Villar to newly elected leaders: Fulfill promises

KALIBO -- Senator Cynthia Villar urged newly elected leaders in Aklan to fulfill their respective promises and not to let the people down.

This was the gist of Villar's message as she administered the oath-taking ceremony of the provincial and municipal officials who won the recent election last Saturday, June 29.

"I urged everyone not to let people down because we have been supported by our people. We also needed to showcase our leadership, integrity and dedication in serving our countrymen," she said.

Villar won by more than 25 million votes and was considered a top winning senator all over the country in the recent election.

She administered the oath-taking of the ruling majority of the local Tibyog party headed by Governor Florencio Miraflores.

Reports said the Tibyog gathered 81 percent of overall winning candidates in the province.

Miraflores, on his last term, vowed to continue to upgrade tourism, agriculture and health services in the province.

Miraflores, who has been considered the bridging leader on health, has coordinated with the Zuellig Family Foundation to enhance the health services.

Majority of the health fund in the province came from the Internal Revenue Allotment and is being supported by the funds generated from the income earned at the Caticlan and Cagban Jetty Ports-considered as the gateway to Boracay Island.
