RE-ELECTED Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick “Wantan” Palanca has vowed to work on the realization of a port facility and the P300-million livestock investment in the city from the company of business tycoon Mr. Lucio Tan.

Palanca took his oath along with Vice Mayor Jerry Jover and members of the City Council Hermie Millan, Dexter Senido, Teresita Bartolome, Abelardo Bantug III, Deilen Hofilena, Francis Frederick Palanca, Jr., Blandino Galinato, Virginia Adorio, Audie Malaga, and Sulpicio Montelinola, Jr. before Judge Dinah Doll Tiongson-Trocio held at the Victorias Coliseum on Thursday, June 27.

Palanca thanked the people who made him succeed in his bid for the third and final term and vowed to serve them best.

“I want to thank you for being with me as we brought Victorias City to the most peaceful city in the Province of Negros Occidental. We also attained a Seal of Good Local Governance, the increase in the city’s economic dynamism and all the many achievements that we had enjoyed in my previous term,” he said.

He updated the people of Victorias City about the plan to establish a port facility where President Rodrigo Duterte has promised to help him realize to help uplift the economic life of the city.

He also said that the company of Mr. Lucio Tan plans to invest P300 million for its livestock investment.

“I hope it will push through,” he said.

They also dream to put up a business economic park, a new Government Center and a Gawahon Resort where the richest bio-diversity is located. They will continue to develop it to benefit their children’s children.

“Let us work our best and I enjoin you to also take your oath before the people so that we can all work sincerely for their welfare,” he said.

He added his Asenso team will work as a team so that they can do their work faster and more efficient.

Negros Occidental 3rd District Congressman Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez graced the occasion as their guest of honor and speaker.

Congressman Kiko Benitez said, “Public service is a public trust. And those of us who offer ourselves to be of service to our people, we do so not just voluntarily but treating it as a sacred trust. You have entrusted us with the governance and delivery of services required for the people of Victorias to go beyond their basic needs and to meet or allow them to explore whatever aspirations they may have. Asenso does not end. The horizon of Asenso is ever receding and those of us in service must understand that we serve the general population and they are our boss. I have seen the desire and aspiration of those who took their oath to bring Asenso to its fullest term to Victorias,” he said.

“Since the election is over, it is time to ensure that we heal the divisions that divide us because for the next three years, we will still work together so that Victorias will continue to progress and the dreams that we have for Victorias get realized and none of us can do that alone. I will return to the recurring message for those of us who are public servants, we are first of all, servants but we are also comrades and partners of the public and are required to work together. We may have different ideas of how to accomplish our goals but I am certain that all of us are one in making Victorias move further, faster and develop in the best possible way that it can be, that it develops in an inclusive and sustainable manner. So the challenge after the congratulations to those who took their oath, is to dedicate themselves to Victorias for all Victoriahanons to come together in common purpose for a better and stronger Victorias. This cannot be done without the cooperation of everyone and it is only when we work together that anything and everything is possible,” he added.
