IN KEEPING up with his promise for a more responsive City Government, Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Gullas has unveiled the city's new command center and state of-the-art monitoring system.
The command center, placed in a two-story building within the Talisay City Hall compound in Barangay Lawaan 2, will serve as the official headquarters of the City of Talisay Traffic Operations and Development Authority (CT-Toda) and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO).
During his visit, Gullas boasted of the city's new monitoring system that connects to more than 30 CCTV cameras placed in strategic locations around the city.
The system will help in monitoring various incidents around the city, including those involving traffic, local disaster and crime.
With the new equipment in place, Gullas assured that his administration will be able to carry out his "Aksyon Agad" (Immediate Action) policy.
"With this, we can assure our constituents that we are closely monitoring any incident in the city and immediately apply the appropriate response," Gullas said in a statement on his Facebook page.
He also introduced his newest addition to his team, new CT-Toda head and former Provincial Traffic Management focal person Jonathan "Joy" Tumulak.
Gullas has already tasked Tumulak to carry out various programs and reforms to improve the city's traffic situation, including the strict implementation of traffic rules and regulations along the city's major thoroughfares.
"I also tasked the new CT-Toda leadership to carry out a multi-sectoral approach towards the worsening traffic situation, including conducting stakeholder dialogue with various transport sector members in the city and getting their cooperation on how we can solve the problem together," Gullas said.
Gullas also met with Tumulak's staff and vowed to improve their working conditions by increasing their benefits.
But he also challenged CT-Toda staff, particularly traffic enforcers, to treat their work with strict accountability.
Gullas also ordered the creation of a city-wide hotline that will accept grievances and complaints from constituents against erring traffic enforcers. (JKV)
