“In terms of production, we are going to feature all about Cagayan de Oro, this time, and the world class beauty,” she added.

The pageant organizer shared that they have painstakingly selected this year’s candidates for they are aiming to bring them and compete with the national and international pageants.

“To bring them and compete with national and international pageants, kaya nga you notice 5’5” and up yung kanilang mga height,” Cue said.

The talent competition is slated to happen in July while the swimsuit and evening gown competitions will be in August.

The Higalaay Festival will also be formally opened in August, with City Fiesta Executive Committee Head Eileen San Juan saying that there will be visitors coming in from other cities who might be joining in the festivities.

San Juan also mentioned the changes in the format of this year’s Kumbira, the flagship project of the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and restaurant Association and one of the major events of the fiesta.

“Kumbira, we changed the format, we want to promote ang atong Kumbira Masters. So meaning we are trying to really develop the talent, the skill. We have major competitions that will focus on developing a Kumbira Master Chef, a Kumbira Master Barista and a Kumbira Master in Bar,” San Juan said.

The fiesta executive committee head encouraged the Kagay-anons to also invite visitors to the city for all the Higalaay Festival activities.
