FORMER PBA star Dondon Hontiveros put on another impressive performance to lift Batch ‘94 to a 64-60 win over Batch 2000 in the Division 1 quarterfinals of the Don Bosco Cup 2019 last Sunday, June 30, at the Don Bosco Arena.
Hontiveros once again carried his batch to victory with huge numbers of 21 points, 22 rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks.
The ex-University of Cebu (UC) guard Kern Sesante led Batch 2000 with 22 markers, nine boards and two steals.
The No. 4 seed Batch ‘99 eliminated InGorious Batches, 57-53, in the other Division 1 quarterfinals game. Haresh Vergara led Batch ‘99 with a double-double of 22 points, 14 boards, six assists and a steal.
Meanwhile, Batch 2008-2009 and Batch 2016 advanced to the semifinals of Division 2.
Batch 2008-2009 ended the impressive run of Batch 2011 with a 66-56 victory. John Velasco exploded for 32 markers and 12 rebounds for Batch 2008-2009.
Christian Rey Belloc once again had an impressive game with 28 points and eight rebounds only to come out short.
Batch 2016, the third youngest batch in the tournament, outclassed Batch 2006, 55-36. Juliano Yusingco tallied 11 points 13 rebounds and five assists for Batch 2016.
In the semifinals, Batch ‘94 faces off with Batch ‘97, while Batch 2004-2005 locks horns with Batch 2008-2009 on July 6. Batch ‘98 takes on Batch ‘99, while Batch 2015 is up against on July 7. EKA
