Mabalacat councilor to work on new city hall, hospital

MABALACAT CITY -- A newly-installed councilor in this component city has vowed to work on the new city hall project and the upgrading of the Mabalacat City District Hospital.

Councilor Jun Castro, who is now the city council infrastructure committee chair, said Mayor Cris Garbo instructed him to work on the two major projects.

Castro said he will support the projects in terms of necessary legislations and funding appropriations.

Garbo earlier said that the district hospital will be improved to provide free hospitalization for the indigent residents of Mabalacat.

"We will have a joint operation with the province of Pampanga, under the leadership of Governor Dennis Pineda, so that we can provide free hospitalization to our kabalen," Garbo said.

The city government will fund the construction of a new building to upgrade the district hospital which is being operated by the provincial government, according to the mayor.

In line with his health program, Garbo said he hired at least nine physicians and acquired three ambulances.

Garbo also promised to push for the construction of a modern city hall and government center in Barangay Mabiga, which is the center of the city in terms of location.

The reelected mayor said the City Government will purchase a two hectare property worth P400 million in the said village.

"We will construct a city hall worth P600 million with complete facilities and equipment," Garbo said.
