GOVERNOR Eugenio Jose Lacson reiterated Wednesday, July 3, the seven-point agenda under his battlecry "Abanse Negrense" in his inaugural address during the inaugural session of the Provincial Board.

Lacson calls it his wish list for agriculture and food security; building of infrastructure, roads and other structures; advancement of economic, trade, investment and employment opportunities; nurturing of public health by creating responsive hospital and other social services; sustainable environmental management and tourism development; education, culture, sports and ICT and Negrense brand of good governance and human development.

Lacson pledged to continue to extend the needed agricultural support to farmers for sustainable transformation in terms of mechanization to reduce the cost of production, access to financing including the provision of appropriate infrastructure for immediate transfer of goods from the upland barangays to the marketplace.

Lacson also bared that he will continue to provide technical-vocational scholarship grants to the out-of-school youth and high school graduates through short term courses and the "study now, pay later" programs and the project free programs for teachers.

"Surely, the Negros economy will remain vibrant in the coming days. The provincial government will play a vibrant role in the economic and financial cycle and the realization of our people’s dreams and ambitions," Lacson said.

He also confirmed Wednesday, July 3, the appointment of Tony Agustin as his consultant for sports development.

He said next week, regular employees will be placed for unfilled positions especially in the district hospitals run and managed by the provincial government.

Lacson said this is to make the hospitals compliant to the requirement of the Department of Health and this is part of the reorganization approved by the Provincial Boad when he was the presiding officer.
