Noynoy answers ‘copying’ issue

LIBERAL Party (LP) standard bearer Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” Aquino III said that closest rival Senator Manny Villar might soon copy his hairstyle after accusing him of “copying” his advertisements and campaign materials.

The comment was made while in a campaign sortie in Cebu City after seeing orange ribbons similar to Aquino's trademark yellow ribbons tied to posts and trees in the city.

The color yellow and the yellow ribbon was the trademark of Aquino's mother the late former President Cory Aquino during the height of Martial Law and people power. Orange, meanwhile, is Villar's campaign color.

“Like what they say, they already got everything. Maybe for me, they got my speech. A while ago, I heard on the radio that I have a vow. My opponent also has a vow. Give it one month and even my hairstyle will be copied,” Aquino said.

Aside from the ribbons, the Nacionalista Party (NP) presidential bet also made a similar advertisement showing him making a “panata” (vow) to eradicate poverty.

Aquino's "covenant" to the people is “Hindi ako magnanakaw (I will not steal).”

But Aquino considers that situation in a positive light, saying that it is “the sincerest form of flattery.”
