Launching of project ‘shoebox’ set

COUNCILOR Joselito Macrohon, who received a fresh mandate to serve at the City Council, is launching a project that would benefit indigent elementary school students in Zamboanga City.

Macrohon said the project, dubbed as shoebox, will be launched on July 8 until August this year.

He said his office has so far collected 30 shoe boxes to be filled with school supplies and toys by donors and will be given to indigent elementary school students.

Macrohon said he envisions the project shoebox to benefit some 2,000 indigent students enrolled in different elementary schools in this city.

He urged the public, especially those who have the means to help, to support the project for the benefit of poor students.

“Through the project, we can help and encourage poor students to go to school,” he said.

Macrohon said he thought of the project after seeing the plight of poor students in the village during the campaign period. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
