MABALACAT CITY -- Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and Vice Mayor Geld Aquino recently led the distribution of 100 ASUS laptop computers to public school teachers here.

The gadget distribution is under the City Government's netbook acquisition program for teachers.

Aside from the laptops, the teachers were also given free DVD writers and backpacks.

Garbo thanked the teachers for their services to the school children of the city.

The mayor also vowed to help the teachers enhance their skills on information technology.

"We don't want our teachers to be left behind in the world of digital age and computerization," Garbo said. "Be an example to your students, you always motivate your students, sometimes tell them your life struggles."

Dr. Ma. Irelyn Tamayo, schools superintendent of Department of Education (DepEd) Mabalacat Division, expressed gratitude to the city officials led by Garbo.

She urged the teachers to take care of the equipment and use them for their virtual learning activities so that learners will be more equipped in terms of the K-12 curriculum.

"Again our gratitude to the City Government, to SEF (Special Education Funds) and may we continue to pray for the success of the government of Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and Vice Mayor Geld Aquino," Tamayo said.

Last year, local officials issued some 1,317 brand new laptops in two batches.

City Planning Officer and Chief of Staff Rosanno Paquia said that brings a total of 1,417 laptops given to the teachers.

Paquia and Mayor Office personnel Emerita Signey assisted the mayor during the laptop distribution.
