Notre Dame Cup tees off May 1

NOTRE Damians throughout Mindanao and in other parts of the country will compete in the event, The Notre Dame Cup: 85@25 Golf Tournament, on May 1 at the Apo Golf and Country Club in Davao City.

The tournament is being organized by Batch 85-Notre Dame of Kidapawan Boys and Girls HS Alumni Association Inc., whose members are celebrating their Silver Jubilee this year.

Alumni of the Notre Dame of Kidapawan College Boys' Department (now Integrated Basic Education Department) and Notre Dame of Kidapawan for Girls (now St. Mary's Academy) are expected to spearhead the participants to this tournament.

"We will also extend invitations to the alumni of other Notre Dame schools in the Cotabato Province, South Cotabato and the other provinces of Mindanao to join the event," tournament director Dr. Benedicto S. Albano said.

The proceeds of the fund-raising tournament will be utilized for the Silver Jubilee projects of Batch 85-Notre Dame of Kidapawan Boys and Girls HS Alumni Association Inc., specifically the upgrade of the audio-visual room of the NDKC-IBED.

The Association had earlier co-sponsored the Kidapawan Open Chess Championship held at the Kidapawan City Convention Center on February 5-7, which was attended by around 70 players, including one international master and eight national masters from the Cities of Manila, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Digos, Panabo, Malita, General Santos, Koronadal, Cotabato, and the Host, Kidapawan.

The Association further plans to organize medical outreach and feeding missions in various communities in Kidapawan City, conduct tree-planting activities within Mt. Apo, give due recognition to its former faculty and staff, and launch socio-economic projects for its members.

Batch 85 will also host the annual NDKC-IBED Alumni Homecoming on December 29 and hold its Silver Jubilee Reunion on December 30.

The golf tournament will be held at the par-72 Apo Golf and Country Club, a very challenging course with its narrow fairways, well-maintained sand traps and numerous trees and water hazards. Mt. Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines, casts an imposing yet scenic backdrop on the course.

Interested sponsors and participants may contact Dr. Albano through 0918-8252266 or Atty. Dan P. Calica, the association's president, through 0918-9021169.

Early sponsors and donors are Colorsteel Systems Corporation, Hercules Transport, Inc. and Simeon Beltrano, Tambal Ug Uban Pa, MC BV DALEZ, Poblador Bautista and Reyes, and Edward and Edgar Salarda.
