Barangay 16 captain passes away

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution expressing deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family of the late Barangay 16 Captain Erwin Arela.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Lady Gles Pallen, was approved during the inaugural session of the City Council on Wednesday, July 3.

Pallen, Barangay League president, said that Arela passed away on July 3 in Manila.

Arela, who was a former No. 1 kagawad, assumed his post in December 2018 after the death of their village chief the late Nelson Ligaya Jr.

Pallen said that in previous years, Arela underwent a bypass surgery and on Monday, he went to Manila for a follow-up checkup of his medical condition.

She said she was informed that Arela was in Manila airport, travelling to Bacolod, when he suffered a cardiac arrest on Wednesday morning.

“Arela is a good man and very dedicated to his work as a father of Barangay 16. He is also supportive in the Barangay League activities with a perfect attendance in all seminars,” she added.

The Barangay League will also give assistance to the family of Arela.

Pallen disclosed that Arela’s post might be occupied by the Barangay 16 No. 1 Kagawad Joseph de los Santos.
