CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Transportation (DOTr) modernization caravan made a stop at SM City Pampanga on Friday, July 5, in a bid to promote the campaign of modernizing the transport sector here.

Transport groups and stakeholders attended the event which featured talks and an exhibit of DOTr partners.

The talks centered on the current initiatives being undertaken under the modernization program, funding support for transport groups and operators, and systems of the current program.

This activity also aims to test the capability of modernized PUV prototypes that were designed to promote a safer, cleaner, healthier and fuel-efficient transport system for the Filipino commuters.

The program, dubbed as “Modern PUV Caravan" is part of the 32-city tour until 2020.

The event, with the theme “Arangkada ng Pagbabago Tungo sa Kaunlaran,” the caravan is in line with the Duterte administration's biggest transformational initiative -- the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).

The Modern PUV Caravan is a joint undertaking of the DOTr, LTFRB, Land Transportation Office, and Office of Transportation Cooperatives, in cooperation with the Development Bank of the Philippines, Landbank of the Philippines, and various sub-industries in the automotive industry.
