Rimpy: Proposed highway to link 2 Pampanga districts

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- People from various towns in Pampanga’s 2nd districts will soon have an easy way to 4th district municipalities and vice versa through an access road that is now in the pipeline, according to 4th District Rep. Juan Pablo “Rimpy” Bondoc.

Bondoc said that plans have been discussed with former 2nd District Rep. Gloria Arroyo and is now in the works.

The project will link Santo Tomas with the commercial town of Guagua. This means that a direct route to Guagua will be made available for commuters and motorists making travel to 2nd District towns and to economic destinations in the south of Pampanga more accessible.

The project will greatly complement the ongoing pavement of dike roads in Minalin and Guagua town. Currently, Guagua town has already been linked to Minalin town through a bridge that has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways over the Paglabuan River in Guagua town.

Travel from Minalin to Guagua is now less than 15 minutes compared to the previous one hour travel through San Fernando.

The road linking Santo Tomas and Guagua is also expected to reduce traffic for vehicles in San Fernando as vehicles will now have alternative roads in going to south and eastern parts of Pampanga.

The whole project is part of the ongoing Lubao-Guagua-Minalin-Sto. Tomas Road, a product of the recommendation of the Regional Development Council and the support of Arroyo.
