CEBU City Mayor Edgardo Labella reminded his allies in the City Council to not abuse their power especially that they are now the majority bloc.

“It does not mean that we are the majority we can abuse our number, we should practice what is right,” Labella told reporters on Thursday, July 4, 2019.

Labella made the commend after his ally, Cebu City councilor Joel Garganera, will take his oath after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) En Banc disqualified Cebu City councilor Sisinio Andales.

During a visit to fire victims in Barangay Quiot-Pardo, Labella urged members of the City Council to do their jobs, regardless if they are a member of the majority or minority bloc.

He wants to see to it that the ordinances and resolutions passed by the City Council can truly benefit their constituents.

“Because under deliberative system of the government, while the majority rules, we have to respect the rights of the minority,” Labella added. (JJL)
