Davao Doctors Hospital celebrates golden anniversary in style

IT HAS been five decades of state-of-the-art and quality medical services and moving forward, Davao Doctors Hospital (DDH) is committed to up its game to provide healthcare services the Filipinos deserve.

In time for its anniversary celebration, DDH - the leading privately owned, tertiary level, and multispecialty hospital, conducted several activities: blessing of its three state-of-the-art imaging equipment; unveiling of new logo; Kaleidoscope coffee table book launching; and hospital’s facade lighting ceremony among others.

President and chief executive officer Raymund CS del Val said the hospital promises more innovations in the coming years.

“We are honored to be part of your lives, as members of the larger family of Dabawenyos, and Mindanaoans,” del Val said in a speech during a special anniversary celebration last July 1 at the hospital.

Celebrating the major milestone, the hospital blessed three imaging equipment--a computerized tomography (CT) scan, mammogram at the hospital’s Radiology Department, and the Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab). Del Val said these newest addition to its Operating Rooms equipment will raise the bar for diagnostic and therapeutic imaging in Mindanao.

DDH also took the chance to launch the newest look of its official logo, an anniversary logo, to highlight its role in the promotion of health around Mindanao.

The logo, Del Val said, best describes its growth for the past five decades. The new logo encompasses the gains of the past 50 years and the promise of doing more in terms of providing accessible and quality healthcare to the community.

“The anniversary logo exhibits three colors that best represent DDH’s existence,” Dr. Mirasol Tiu said.

The logo has a dominant yellow color which represents the hospital’s existing logo. The dark green color represents the people behind DDH, founders, doctors, the hospital staff, and stakeholders. Looking closely, the logo portrays a bigger person is extending his hands to the smaller person. It signifies that DDH is always ready to give a helping hand to those in need.

The light green in the logo, meanwhile, depicted as a smaller person representing the patients. Its extended arms as seen in the logo represent the long-standing relationship with the hospital’s patient and their families. Lastly, the circle represents DDH’s unwavering commitment of providing accessible and quality healthcare to the Davao community.

“The big and small persons are interconnected, forming the shape of a heart - a potent symbol of love,” Tiu said.

Meanwhile, Kaleidoscope, a coffee table book that features a number of success stories of DDH patients who have been part of the hospital’s growth and history, was also launched during the celebration. The 68-page coffee table book is a collection of stories of hope and love, ranging from the triumphs of patients and their families to the growth of DDH employees.

Completing the 50th anniversary celebration, a ceremonial lighting of the hospital’s facade was held and witnessed by representatives coming from various sectors.

DDH, located along Quirino Avenue, Davao City, was founded in 1969. Today it remains the largest and most modern hospital in Southern Philippines, with 250 beds and offering state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic, and intensive care facilities in a one-stop medical center.

DDH is considered the leader in all medical specialties, including cardiovascular medicine, orthopedics, gastroenterology and endocrinology, neurology and neurosurgery, cancer, ophthalmology, and digestive and liver diseases in Mindanao.
