San Fernando LGU develops weather forecasting app

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government here, through its Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMC), has developed an ‘almost accurate’ weather forecasting application.

The application, dubbed as DRRM Weather Forecast Application System, was developed to mitigate the destructive effects of disasters, particularly typhoons, in the community.

“The CDRRMC can now almost accurately predict the weather in the coming days through the application that was developed in-house by City Information, Communication and Technology Office,” said CDRRM Office Head Raymond del Rosario.

He added that the application is now being utilized to improve the efficiency of the year-round preventive measures implemented by the CDRRMO in the city as well as on its neighboring towns.

Through the application, CDRRMO is able to monitor the temperature, as well as predict the forthcoming weather disturbances and its movement and speed, thus is able to implement its mitigating efforts and advise the public to ensure the safety.

Del Rosario said the application, which is available on the internet and mobile appstore, will also be installed on the soon-to-rise city’s Command and Control Center that is poised to be the “last building standing” during the times of calamity.

“Through the help of the application, we can be able to better enforce our preparatory measures against calamities and hopefully achieve our aim of avoid or at least minimize the effects of disasters and make the Command and Control Center or C3 the most efficient and last building standing,” he said.
