NEGROS Occidental is listed as 7th province in the Visayas- Mindanao area in terms of local source income (LSI) in 2018.
In a data posted on its Facebook page, the Department of Finance said the province had P555 million LSI in 2018.
Ma. Lina Sanogal, provincial planning and development officer attributed the high LSI of the province to real property taxes, various economic enterprises activities and leased out properties for commercial purposes.
Sanogal cited the Mambukal Summer Resort, the provincial and district hospitals, the food terminal and hostel as sources of LSI.
The provincial government also leased out its properties for commercial use like Ayala, 888 and the CyberCentre, she said.
Our LSI is expected to increase when the food terminal is completed, the Hostel is formally opened and the Mambukal Convention Center to accommodate more guests all opens this year, Sanogal said.
Topping the list is Iloilo with P1.111 billion LSI.
Cebu is at second with P923 million, Bukidnon- P922 million, Leyte- P982 million, Aklan- P657 million, South Cotabato- P570 million.
Region 6 had the most provinces in the list with five, Region 10 - four provinces, Regions 7 and 11- three provinces each, Regions 8 and 12 with two provinces each and Region 13 with one province.
