MMDA to study Iloilo City traffic

THE Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will study Iloilo City’s traffic situation next month in the hope to address both road and public safety.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said MMDA personnel will personally visit the metropolis for assessment of the state of traffic in the city.

“We have wide roads but it seems that it is scary to cross the street. We will look into the safety of pedestrians. A 12-man MMDA team will be here for two weeks in August as they will help us prepare our traffic management plan,” Treñas said.

The mayor was referring to making major thoroughfares safe particularly Diversion Road in Mandurriao district where a recent accident involving a speeding sports car killed a teacher couple while they were crossing the pedestrian lane. (PR)
