EDUARD Folayang is anticipating a heavy striking match against Eddie Alvarez when they clash on August 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The former ONE Championship world lightweight world champion is more than fired up to face the caliber of Alvarez who has won two world titles in two mixed martial arts promotions.

“ His fighting style is more of striking just like me so I think who ever adjusts well to the game plan of both fighters has a big chance of winning,” Folayang told SunStar Baguio.

Folayang added he has already set his mind of facing Alvarez in the near future after signing up with ONE but was surprised when he learned that he will immediately test the mettle of the former UFC and Bellator MMA world champion.

“I know there will come a time that we will face each other and I have already set my mind of squaring off against him and I will be fully prepared against Alvarez,” added Folayang.

Folayang said this is also a good match – up as both fighters are coming off a loss earlier this year in Tokyo, Japan.

“Our mindset is to recover against that loss and get back on the winning track and urge to be back on title contention,” said Folayang.

The Team Lakay standout, who will once see action in front of the home crowd, said he is focused on winning while feeling a bit pressure.

Folayang added he has already learned how to handle pressure and hopes to be inspired in front of the home crowd and deliver another impressive win against a highly touted opponent.

Aside from Folayang, also seeing action in the stacked fight card is Danny Kingad facing former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov in the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix semi-finals.

In another explosive ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix semi-final, former ONE featherweight world champion Honorio Banario meets deadly knockout artist Timofey Nastyukhin.

Added in the stacked fight card is Edward Kelly who will take on Xie Bin in a featherweight contest.
