Batch ‘94 seals finals slot in DB Cup 2019



BATCH ‘94, led by former PBA star Dondon Hontiveros and Vincent Ian Brigoli, outlasted higher seed Batch ‘97 , 64-55, in the Don Bosco Cup 2019 at the Don Bosco gym on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Hontiveros put up a double-double of 14 points, 24 rebounds, three steals and a block. Brigoli, on the other hand, had an equally impressive game with 17 points and six assists.

Vicent Escobido added 12 points and Wilbert Taborada pitched in 10.

Giovanni Canceko led Batch ‘97 with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Junjun Llenes chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Batch ‘98 proved why they are at the top of Division 1 after a 63-56 victory over Batch ‘99. Ron Mabanto exploded for 29 points along with five steals.

Mark Loyola led Batch ‘99 in a losing effort with 18 points and nine rebounds.

On the other hand, top seed Batch 2015 will face off Batch 2008-2009 in the Division 2 finals.

Batch 2015 earned a ticket to the finals with a 60-53 win over Batch 2016.

Scott Aying logged a double-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds, a steal and a block. Angelo del Campo added 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Lance Lim had 20 points and three steals for Batch 2016.

In the other game, the Batch 2008-2009 beat Batch 2004-2005, 81-74. John Velasco and Alexander Batalico had 18 points apiece for Batch 2008-2009.

Joirene Salcedo and Bertoni Salazar filled in the huge void left by former PBA player Jeric Canada, who didn’t play in the semifinals.

Salcedo had 25, while Salazar scored 20 but their efforts weren’t enough for the undermanned Batch 2004-2005. EKA
