IN AN aim to encourage more local entrepreneurs, Davao City will celebrate the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Week starting tomorrow, July 10, 2019, which will be participated by around 42 local trade exhibitors.
The event is also aimed to recognize the importance of the MSME sector in generating jobs for Dabawenyos.
“We really wanted to encourage more Dabawenyos to get into business because 99.2 percent of registered businesses in the city are MSMEs so that is how important they are to the Davao economy because they are our lifeblood. The more we can encourage, the more we develop as a city,” Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. president Arturo Milan said in an interview Monday, July 8.
Among the lined up activities for the event is the Trade Exhibit at Abreeza Ayala Mall.
“We have local trade exhibitors to encourage entrepreneurship in the city. Every year, the numbers of exhibitors are increasing,” Milan added.
The event will be organized by the MSME Development Council created under Proclamation No. 6 Series of 2012 by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
Other activities are Crops Training for those who wanted to venture into agriculture business; a session on financing for those who wanted to avail capital for starting a business; Young Entrepreneur’s Summit at the University of Southeastern Philippines; and Coaching and Mentoring Session for those who just started their businesses.
“This event is open for everyone, only the Young Entrepreneur’s Summit will have a registration fee just to cover the food for the whole-day event. All others are free,” Milan added.
