Cebu police stations told to update drug watchlists

CEBU Police Provincial Office Director Roderick Mariano has ordered the 50 provincial police stations to update their respective illegal drug watchlists to monitor new drug syndicates.

Mariano said he is also eyeing the possibility of a corroborative conference with the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Visayas offices. The conference will be done the soonest possible time, he said.

He said most of the persons they encountered in police operations are new drug personalities.

“That’s what I’ve been telling that although you are a good asset to your group, once you’re captured, you can be easily replaced,” he said in a forum Tuesday, July 9.

He also said he will tap the Provincial Mobile Force Company to monitor illegal drug activities in remote barangays of Cebu.

Mariano also said that he is planning to meet with the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Badac) with regards to the delisting of personalities in their drug watchlists.

“Maybe, we can meet with the Badac. It’s not only the chairman or the police, but collective as a council who will do the delisting. The barangay knows better in terms of their members. If it is confirmed that such person is no longer living there, then they can prepare the necessary documents and delist the said person,” he said. (WBS)
