GIVING way to the recently-held NMR-1 sportsfest, the NMR-1V Eagles basketball tournament finally resumes tonight -- after some “three weeks” delay -- at the Nazareth gym, Cagayan de Oro City.

Games start at 6:30 p.m., pitting Romuls Power against the team of Kuya Kalaw, followed by Team Kuya Candia versus Team Kuya Jagger and Team Kuya Mike Libot opposite Team Kuya OBO.

Tournament director Gary Mejos said that this time the rule “No Play No Full Pay of Registration,” will be strictly implemented, otherwise a disobedient team will be forfeited.

“Maskin kadtong sure na makasulod sa next round pag naay player makadula nga wala naka-fully paid automatic forfeit iyang team,” added Mejos.

On Thursday, July 11, the NMR-IV hoopfest will shift to the Southern Philippines College (SPC) covered court for the last scheduled games of the eliminatiuon round, pairing Team Abamin against Team OBO (7 p.m.) and Team Candia versus Team Baba (8 p.m.).

Team Kuya RJ leads the league with a 4-1 win-loss record, followed by Kuya Romuls and Kuya Jagger at 3-1 each; Kuya Gabe (3-2), Kuya Kalaw (2-2), Kuya Candia (1-2), Kuya Baba and Kuya Mike Libot, 1-3 apiece and the still winless Kuya OBO (0-3).

The top 8 performing teams will advance to the playoff round, starting July 17.
