THE departure road in front of Terminal 1 (Domestic) of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) will be temporarily closed to traffic on July 12 and 13, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

"This is to allow for the installation of temporary covered walkways from the T1 (Terminal 1) departure drop-off to the curbside at the Waterfront Airport Hotel as a means of providing weather protection for the pedestrians," said the MCIA in an advisory.

"We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause to your travel plans. Moreover, we wish to ask for your patience and utmost understanding as we are currently renovating the Terminal 1 of MCIA into a world-class terminal," it added.

Below is the closure schedule:

July 12 (Friday) -- 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.

July 13 (Saturday) -- 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.

The MCIA advised the public to follow all signage and instructions given by airport security.

It said that for North Wing departure drop-off, all domestic departure passengers of Cebu Pacific and AirAsia going to the north wing departure entrance shall turn left at the DHL building to access the north wing departure road.

Meanwhile, all domestic departure passengers of Philippine Airlines and Royal Air going to the south wing departure entrance shall proceed as normal to the Terminal 1 departure road but will have to make a U-turn to get to the drop-off point. When drop off is completed, the exit shall be via the car park bypass road.

For domestic arrival pick-up, bus drop-off and pick-up, the MCIA said "all vehicles for arrival pick-up shall turn left at the DHL building and proceed straight ahead to the T1 Transportation Hub."

"All buses and coasters for departure drop off and arrival pick up shall also turn left at the DHL building and proceed to the Terminal 1 Transportation Hub," it added.

It also said that the transfer bus and the MyBus coming from Terminal 2 (International) shall turn right at the DHL building and proceed to the Terminal 1 Transportation hub.

"There will be no bus access at the T1 South wing and North wing departures," it added. (PR)
