Overpass killing solved

THE suspect in the killing of Colin Akinchang surrendered Sunday night to the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO).

Bauko Vice Mayor Bartolome Badecao and municipal police chief Joshua Mateo accompanied the suspect as he confessed to the crime.

Akinchang was reportedly mauled at the Y-shape overpass along Magsaysay Avenue in Baguio City last July 1.

The late evening incident was recorded by the CCTV in the area.

BCPO chief Allan Co “Immediately upon the commission of the incident, we conducted a thorough investigation and follow up and likewise upon identification was the hot pursuit operation against the suspect for the death of Mr. Akinchang at the overpass.”

In the CCTV footage, Akinchang was seen going down the stairs when he was hit by Marc Manginga Calical.

Akinchang then fell, lost consciousness, and was rushed to the hospital by onlookers but died while being treated.

Co said “The hot pursuit operations that we conducted after positively identifying the suspect, we coordinated with the local government unit of Bauko and the Vice Mayor there and the Chief of Police was a great help for the eventual security for the surrender of the suspect who was brought here last night, July 7.”

Calical will face a homicide case.
