THAI companies are in Davao City to explore new investment opportunities in automotive, agriculture and construction industries.

During the first Thai-Philippines Business Networking in the city Tuesday, July 9, at the Marco Polo Hotel, the seven companies which participated were manufacturers of motorcycle spare parts like the A&P Siam Neo Group, Thaihuawei Battery, and Thai Asco Brake; manufacturer of agricultural machinery like Siam Implement; and manufacturers of construction materials and hardware, namely, Panel Plus, Parazzo Group, and Solex International.

“This business matching and networking event has opened up opportunities for many companies in Manila already not only for distributing and importing products but as well as creating valuable and lasting connections,” Director of Thai Trade Center Manila Khankhanit Amphuprapa said yesterday.

“With the growth that Davao is now experiencing, we thought it was time we brought this activity to the region and we are very thankful for the warm reception our Thai participants got. This was definitely a fruitful experience for all of us,” she added.

She added that seeing more high-rise buildings in the city along with its economic growth this year, there is a big opportunity for the construction companies in Thailand to expand and invest in the city.

With the increasing number of people in the city, Amphuprapa said manufacturers of motorcycle and car parts will have a good opportunity for their business also.

“The city is also producing a lot of agricultural products so agricultural machinery is also a potential. We are even thinking of encouraging food processing manufacturers,” she said.

Amphuprapa said they are hoping for more Thai companies to participate in business-matching activities that they will soon organize in the city as they see a good market here.

In order to do this, she said there is a need to further promote the city to potential Thai investors, especially on its safety and security status.
