Cebu City no longer accepts applicants

THE Cebu City Government will no longer accept job applicants starting Wednesday, July 10, 2019, as there are no more vacant positions.

Cebu City Administrator Floro Casas said there are already 1,600 applications for the 1,300 job vacancies.

Casas said since Mayor Edgardo Labella won in the May 13 midterm elections, people have trooped to his former office at the Vice Mayor’s Office to apply for a job. Applicants would even approach him when they see him at the City Hall lobby.

Casas said they have already selected those who will replace the 1,300 casual employees whose work ended last June 30.

He said that aside from the applicants endorsed by city councilors, barangay captains and village councilors, there are also walk-in applicants who go to the City Hall on a daily basis.

“We can no longer entertain them because we have no more vacancies. They will be wasting their time. My advice is for them not to come to City Hall anymore,” Casas said.

Casas instead advised applicants to wait for future advisories from the City Government on job openings. (VLA)
