City government to open new roads to address traffic woes

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has appealed to the members of the city council to help her administration in realizing the construction of new roads and other vital green infrastructures.

This, as Salazar vowed to open new roads and widen critical strategic roads to alleviate traffic and accommodate the increasing volume of vehicles plying the streets of Zamboanga City.

Salazar also requested the legislature to remain steadfast in reviewing and updating the city’s traffic code as the city government under her last three-year term will push for the modernization of the public transportation system.

On health, being one of her priority thrusts, Salazar assured that she will increase the city’s social assistance and financial support to indigent families and victims of calamities and disasters.

“Our social infrastructure programs will also continue as we build more climate change resilient school buildings, health centers, daycare centers and other vital green infrastructures,” she said.

She said the city government will likewise expand its livelihood and skills training programs including its efforts on agriculture and fishery development. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
