Nocppo reports lower crime; neutralizes 3 drug leaders

THE Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (Nocppo) has reported a downtrend of 42.58 percent in the province’s crime volume from June 1, 2018 to May 31, 2019.

In a report before the members of the provincial board, Nocppo director Police Colonel Romeo Baleros said that there were 385 operations conducted last year under their Plan Double Barrel campaign.

It went up to 710 this year, or an increase of 325 operations.

Baleros reported that nine drug personalities died in police operations.

There were 978 persons arrested, more than 9,400 grams of “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) confiscated with street value of at least P95 million, and 2,045 cases filed.

The Nocppo official also underscored one of their significant accomplishment is the neutralization of three drug group leaders.

They are Leonor Jalandoon, Ronillo Morillo, and Mark Samson Aguirre along with his members.

Baleros said almost P3 million worth of illegal drugs were confiscated from the suspects during encounters with the police operatives.

Nocppo puts premium on campaign against loose firearms which resulted in the arrest 233 suspects and confiscation of 393 loose firearms.

Baleros said the campaign is supplemented with the implementation of “Tokhang Kontra Ginadili-an nga Pusil” which generated more than 1,500 firearms without renewed licenses.

Of the number, 1,400 were surrendered or deposited for safekeeping, he added. (TDE)
