Bus falls off bridge along NLEx

A PASSENGER bus fell off a bridge along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in San Fernando City in Pampanga after it collided with a trailer truck Thursday, July 11.

The Philippine Rabbit bus overshot the bridge railings and fell into the small road beneath the bridge, crashing into the trunk of a car at around 9 a.m. Thursday.

Five passengers were hurt and brought to the nearest hospital.

NLEx traffic and safety manager Robin Ignacio said they were still investigating the incident which occurred along NLEx in Barangay San Felipe in San Fernando City.

"Ang involved ay bus at dalawang truck (A bus and two trucks were involved)," said Ignacio.

A report from the NLEx traffic control room said seven vehicles were involved in the accident.

Initial investigation showed the bus collided with the trailer truck before it rammed the railings and fell off the bridge.

Ignacio assured that their road railings are safe and meet the standards.

"Base sa mga nakaraan (insidente), hindi naman po ang railing ang bumibigay. Talagang sumampa lang po yung mga sasakyan," he said.

The bus has not been removed as of Thursday noon, causing heavy traffic flow along NLEx. (SunStar Philippines)
