Drug den dismantled, 6 nabbed in Zamboanga

JOINT team of lawmen arrested six persons as they dismantled a drug den and seized some P136,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in Zamboanga City, an official said Thursday, July 11.

Lawyer Jacquelyn De Guzman, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) regional director, identified the arrested drug personalities as the following: Jerico Factora, 40 and Joseph Hipolito, 33, both drug den maintainers; Eduardo Damgo, 30; Ramon Dominguez Jr., 33; Rogelio Meniano Jr., 37; and Niño Balbuena, 37, all visitors of the den.

De Guzman said they were arrested by joint PDEA and military operatives in a drug bust around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Azzura Hotel in Putik village.

Confiscated during the operation were some 20 grams of suspected shabu packed in 50 heat-sealed plastic sachets with an estimated value of P136,000, cellular phones, several illegal drug paraphernalia, motorcycles, wallet, P1,000 marked money, and P6,850 cash of different denominations believe to be illegal drug proceeds, she said.

The regional director said cases for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
