Tell it to SunStar: Easy solution

SOMETIMES, it’s man’s pride that hinders his own healing. It’s his pride that obstructs his progress or perfection.

Like in the case of Naaman, a general of the Syrian army. He was suffering from a dreaded skin disease. He was told by prophet Elisha to take a bath seven times in the Jordan River, if he wanted to be healed.

Instead of complying immediately, he grumbled by asking, “What is so good in that river?” For him, there were a lot of better rivers in Syria. He had some pride for the rivers in his own country. But the thing is, it is not a matter of rivers. He missed the point.

He went to a healer. And the healer gave him an assignment in order to be healed. His pride has nothing to do with it. Pride or no pride, he had to comply in order to be healed. He was, however, lucky to have a sensible and wise servant who talked sense to him. He eventually complies and was healed. Sometimes, we need a wise friend to talk sense to us, to apply a simple easy solution to a difficult problem. (By Chito E. Germino, Mandaue City)
