Solane hosts nationwide cooking competition for pro-chefs; Regions 7, 8 winners crowned July 6

SOLANE, one of the country’s leading LPG solutions brand, is searching for the next big name in the culinary world through its nationwide competition “Solane Kitchen Hero: Chef’s Edition.” Filipino chefs from around the country will get the chance to showcase each of their best Filipino cuisine expertise in this grand culinary competition.

“Solane Kitchen Hero: Chef’s Edition” comprises two rounds. Round one will be an elimination round pitting chefs from the same region against each other for a chance to represent their region in the nationals. The second round will comprise the semifinals and grand finals, where competing chefs battle it out for the chance to be crowned the grand champion.

Thirteen competing chefs were presented at Robinsons Galleria Cebu last July 6, Saturday. Their entries—popular Pinoy dishes with unique twists to make them more special—were judged by renowned chef and Solane Kitchen Hero ambassador Chef Sau del Rosario, together with the competition’s director Nancy Reyes-Lumen and Pacific Air ambassador Jude Bacalso.

Criteria for the winning dish: 50 percent featured ingredients and 50 percent originality and creativity.

Chef del Rosario said that they were looking for a chef that could be an inspiration to the younger generation, and could remind them to use the classical and traditional way of cooking Filipino dishes with a world-stage quality.

The winners were Mario Semblante (Region 7) and Jimmy Boy Basa (Region 8). The competition will conclude on Sept. 7 at Eastwood City, Metro Manila, as the champion will take home a cash prize of P100,000 and will get the chance to go on a culinary trip to Japan.
