Ex-town councilor continues service sans political office

PORAC, Pampanga -- Former city councilor Mark Valencia did not allow his defeat from the vice mayoralty race here to get in the way of continuing to help school communities through volunteerism and plain selfless service.

This, as Valencia was able to secure donations for Barangay Mitla Balikbarangay Elementary School through the provision of some 45 chairs and snacks for 280 pupils.

The chairs, equipped with individual panels for writing during lectures, will help augment the need of the said school. The donations came from the company Support Ninja.

Valencia said that not being in government does not mean an end to helping the local community. He served as town councilor for a couple of terms before running for vice mayor in the last May polls this year.

During his term, Valencia advocated education and sectoral empowerment and was an active supporter of school community causes through his many personal programs and initiatives.

Valencia still continues with the Movement for Volunteerism, an organization which aims to instill volunteerism among the youth.

“We focus on helping public schools and their programs like school-based feeding programs, Brigada Eskwela at adopt-a-school projects,” Valencia said.

Valencia said that he will continue to help various sectors here in his private capacity, adding that being in government is not the only avenue to commit into helping the local community.
