FROM July 10 to 16, 2019, Davao City is celebrating homegrown products and brands with the annual MSME Development Week Celebration. The different homegrown products by local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are currently being displayed at the Pinoy MSME Expo at the Abreeza Mall Davao. This event is brought to you by the Davao City MSMED Council led by the City Government of Davao, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCCII), and Department of Trade and Industry in Davao City. Personally, I love trade expos like these as it introduces to the public the different quality products of our MSMEs. On Friday, I dropped by the trade expo to see the different products they have to offer and to see what I can buy for lunch. Being a fan of Pastil Queen, I immediately went to their stall to buy two original pastil. These were good as always. As I made my way in the expo, I found a new kagikit-in-a-jar brand, Wangkikoy’s. This is also a delicious option for those looking for chicken pastil. I bought a small jar of kagikit for lunch. Next item I bought was the Chicken Curry Rice of 911 Foods. This was honestly pretty good and filling to the tummy. The SME sells ready to eat canned meals like afritada rice, tausi rice, and yang chow rice. For the sweets, I bought a box of six from The Social Donuts. I love their donuts because these were not oily. I also liked how it was not very sweet too. My box had the Strawberry Mallows, Strawberry Kisses, Matcha with sliced almond, Choco sprinkled kisses, Chocolate Matcha, and Chocolate Oreo. I also bought Futo Gem Special from Nalabbaga Gem Food Products. This is a personal favorite of mine. These are bite sized puto. I like how it is purely made from rice flour. It is sticky, sweet, and delicious. There are other homegrown products that you may want to try when you visit here at the Pinoy MSME Expo. Many of these products are of really great quality and deserve our support. Support local, support our entrepreneurs, support our farmers, and support our economy.
