AN honesty store is now open in La Trinidad, Benguet.
The store, which sells organic vegetables, will permanently be situated at the lobby of the municipal building at Kilometer 5 and will be open to public.
Jay Sano of the Municipal Agriculture Office said they believe there are many honest people in the municipality.
If one intends to purchase from the store, a variety of products will be presented in the unlocked chiller and tables. Once you have chosen your goods, prepare exact amount as no one will give you change.
Employees from the La Trinidad Municipal Employees Association will have to write their names and price of purchase on a log book and it will be deducted from their salaries at the end of the month.
For non-employees of the Valley, a separate log book is prepared and a drop box for the payment is also set beside.
La Organica, the supplier for organic produce for the honesty store, will deliver daily to the municipality.
Sano said the concept of the store was broached during the planning of the ìLa Trinidad High Vegetable Industry Weekî as one of its highlights and was quickly adapted and approved.
