Police seize P1.2-M illegal drugs from suspects

POLICE seized an estimated P1.2 million worth of illegal drugs from two suspects, one of whom is a high-value target, who were arrested by authorities during an entrapment operation on Saturday evening, July 13, in Sasa, Davao City.

Based on the police report, the suspects were identified as Linda Abubacar Laguinsay alias “Aunte”, 51, and Kasim Laupan Laguinsay, 52, security guard. They are both residents of Maharlikha Poblacion, Pagalungan, Maguindanao.

The suspects were nabbed after selling illegal drugs to a police officer who acted as poseur buyer.

Initially, about 6 p.m. on July 13, the Police Station (PS) 4 Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) led by Police Major Reuben Torreon Libera together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) led by Iaii Cham D. Split conducted Anti-Illegal Drug Operation at corner Muslim Village, Km 11, Sasa, Davao City.

After the incident, one plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu, methamphetamine hydrochloride, with an estimated street value of P1.2 million was recovered from the suspect's possession.

The suspect alias “Aunte” is under the drug watch list of this office and consider as High-Value Target (HVT),” the report read, adding that the suspects are currently under the custody of the police.

Meanwhile, cases for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act is being prepared for filing in the court against the apprehended drug suspects.

“The apprehension of the suspects is the result of the intensified campaign of the PNP (Philippine National Police) against illegal drugs and their dedication to eradicate it with the help of the community,” the report added.
