IT WAS a short but sweet runway show during the launch of Mark Bumgarner's ready-to-wear line at the Chimes Boutiques Saturday, July 13, 2019.
Known for his couture dresses, Bumgarner brings his colorful and chic ready-to-wear designs with Bumgarner Studios, the ready-to-wear arm of his couture studio.
From light-as-air dresses, figure hugging bustier tops, wide-leg trousers, and sensational skirts, each piece evokes the same discipline and aesthetic rigor that Bumgarner puts in each of his specialty gowns, but with the versatility and malleability to transform from red carpet to street.
"My collection is inspired by the modern Filipina for Bumgarner Studios," Bumgarner said.
For their Spring/Summer 2019 ready-to-wear line, they have designed colorful and lively prints.
"For this collection the new prints are the beach print and the abstract floral. The beach print is like an aerial view of a beach with people in it. There are details like umbrellas, beach towels, and people swimming. It is much more fun and playful," Bumgarner said.
He added, "The abstract floral print is more elegant and ready for event wear."
Fans of Bumgarner's dresses will notice how he still incorporates his design DNA in the silhouette of the dresses.
"Silhouette wise, I always think classic but at the same time it is still wearable and modern," he said.
It can also be noted that the Bumgarner Studios' are separates that can be mixed and matched with one another. Those who love to take fashion risks or like to play around with the clothes they have in the closet would love this.
Bumgarner's ready-to-wear line is not only beautiful. The dresses are also great for women who are looking for day or work wear that can transition to an events or evening look.
"For Bumgarner Dtudios the goal is to incorporate my line into your everyday look. Since all I have offered in the beginning is couture," Bumgarner said.
Beyond fashionable clothing, Bumgarner Studios further expands its portfolio, offering jewelry, footwear, and leather goods.
You can expect more from Bumgarner this year as he will soon launch a bag and swimwear collection. A pop-up store is also underway.
