Guv fights back

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano once again hit the opposition members of the Provincial Board who are present during the flag raising rites Monday, July 15, for allegedly lambasting the administration's programs and projects in the last election campaign.

Emano told Vice Governor Jeremy Pelaez and Board Member Jessa Mugot to report to their leaders the accomplishments of the Emano administration in the past six years.

The governor accused anew Pelaez and Mugot, whom she called "Ms. Righteous" for telling the people that he has done nothing in the province in his previous terms.

"That's what the camp of vice-governor was saying uban ni Ms. Righteous board member nga kana si Bambi walay nabuhat. Mao na ang istorya sa akong mga kaatbang," Emano said.

"Mas maayo nga ipaabot nila sa ilang principal kung unsa atong nabuhat for the last six years," he added.

During the flag raising ceremony, Emano reported that the Capitol gave around P200 million for the barangay empowerment program alone where 3,500 individuals were able to land a job and others benefited from numerous services.

Emano also told the opposition lawmakers to tell their leaders how far the Capitol has gone to in terms of road concreting and other infrastructure projects in the province.

The Capitol's engineering department sponsored the flag raising program where it highlighted its accomplishments. A tarpaulin showing the department's achievements was also erected at the Capitol grounds.

"Mas maayo diha nabutang dapit aron ilang makita ug makareport sila sa ilang principal kung unsa ang atong nahimo. Sige lang mo pangatake nga wala mi nahimo," Emano said.

For her part, Mugot said Emano's treatment toward them in front of the Capitol employees every flag raising ceremony is no longer surprising.

But she said she neither feel humiliated nor hurt because it was normal in politics.

"Wala mi nakurat kay gisudlan mani namo. Na-numb nako kay kabalo man ta sa politics, so anad nako kay during the campaign, grabe man pud among giagian," Mugot said.

"Election is over. It's really over, so unta mag move on nata tanan," she added.

Mugot clarified that she has nothing against the governor and his programs but her group has its own advocacy which they presented to the people during their campaign sorties.

"Not really criticize his programs, every candidate or politician has their own advocacy like sa ako, suko gyud tingali sa ako ang gobernador kay akong advocacy is panglawas man ug gusto nako ipaabot sa tawo nga we need Philhealth," Mugot said.

Despite of the treatment, Mugot said the opposition will still join the regular flag raising ceremony and vowed to support the administration's programs and projects that would benefit the people.
