Arlan Arbois bags 10-kilometer run title of the Dagyaw 2019

NATIONAL Prisaa Games (NPG) 2019 double gold medalist Arlan Arbois, Jr. topped the men’s 10K event of the Dagyaw 2019 held recently in an out-and-back course from Rizal Park in Davao City.

The 22-year-old Arbois, a fourth year college student of Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC), clocked a total of 32 minutes and 22 seconds, surpassing his NPG 2019 record of 33:44.

Arbois, representing MC Trackster Davao Elite, bested Jeorge Andrade of Davao Elite Runner-Digos City and Elmer Bartolo of TDS Davao Elite Runner who finished second and third, respectively. Andrade timed 32:26 while Bartolo registered 34:07.

“Nag-expect ko nga makasulod ko sa top 3 Ma’am pero wala ko nag-expect na ako ang mag first (I only expected to make it to the top three but I did not expect to make it on top),” he told SunStar Davao via Facebook, adding that he’s also thankful to had beaten his own record. He will next race in the Go Green Revo on July 28.

In women’s 10K, Mildred Velez of Davao City (48:44) raced past Jackilou Dorupan (52:32) and Gulve Queniza of Carmen, Davao del Norte (52:54).

The men’s 5K title went to Fritz Lantaco (15:48) of UM Davao Spartan while Agustin Ychon (16:21) of Spectrum Runners placed second and Marvin Ponce (17:17) of UM Davao Spartan came third. In the distaff side, Clebel Guinayan of Malaybalay Runners emerged champion as she finished in 20:20 to race past rivals Crislyn Grace Wenceslao (21:32) and Angeline Reponte (23:25) of UM Davao.

Meanwhile, Christopher Dave Gonzaga and Davao Striders’ Arlieny Onso bagged the male and female 3K titles, respectively.

The zumba champions were Mario Asumbrado (winning category), Anna Aquino (non-winning, 18-50 years old) and Gigi Elesterio (non-winning, 51-above).
