More private partners pledge support for SEA games

THE Philippine South East Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) has received pledges of support from different private partners for the hosting of the 30th South East Asian Games.

In a simple ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Pasay City last week, five private companies namely, Philippine Daily Inquirer, San Miguel Asia Car Distributors Corp for BMW, NEP Broadcast Solutions-Singapore, SM Lifestyle Inc. and Nestlé Philippines for Milo, formally signed up as new set of partners of the PHISGOC.

“We are grateful to our new private corporate partners for their overwhelming support and commitment to make the Philippine hosting of the SEA games successful,” said PHISGOC Chief Operating Officer Ramon Suzara during the signing ceremonies.

Suzara expressed optimism that the support and trust given by numerous private sector partners will motivate our athletes and the organizing team to work harder in preparation for the games.

He also cited that the private partners support will boost the government’s efforts to facilitate event preparations.

During the ceremony, the PHISGOC Chief Operating Officer and the officials from the corporate partners signed their respective memorandum of agreement and exchanged tokens of appreciation to formalize their partnership.

Earlier this year, PHISGOC welcomed popular sport brands Mikasa, Marathon, Molten and Asics, represented by Sonak Corporation; national carrier Philippine Airlines; ATOS, Ajinomoto and Pocari Sweat as partners in this year’s SEA games.

The PHISGOC last week organized the second Chef de Mission meeting to give updates to the heads of delegations of all participating countries about the progress of the preparations for the Philippine hosting.

The Chefs de Mission from participating countries commended the PHISGOC for doing a great job in facilitating the preparations for the conduct of 56 sports with 530 events. They expressed their confidence that the Philippines can successfully stage the biggest SEA games ever.

PHISGOC highlighted in their report that the newly-constructed world-class facilities in the New Clark City Sports Complex which includes the Athletics Stadium, Aquatics Center and the Athletes Village will be ready by August 2019. They also noted that the Philippine hosting of this year’s SEA games is an opportunity to showcase the country’s culture, people, talented athletes and other tourism destinations.
