‘Family History’ movie to come out on July 24

A HEART-WARMING movie about the values of life, marriage, and love that will always lead you home is set to make its way to the cinemas this coming July 24.

“Family History” is a film written, produced and directed by Kapuso Comedy Genius Michael V, who also takes on the lead role as Alex dela Cruz.

Alex dela Cruz is a happily married man who finds himself at a crossroad in his life when a life-changing disease challenges his marriage to his wife, May, portrayed by the talented actress Dawn Zulueta.

According to Michael V, this is the first time he teamed up and worked with Dawn in a movie.

He also shared that Dawn was the first actress they chose to take on the role of May in the Family History.

“Siya ang first choice for a lot of reasons. Unang-una, kami magka-edad. Nag research kami kung sino ‘yung mga artista na pinanganak ng 1969. Kasi pagka kumuha ka ng artista na mas bata sayo, parang masyadong pang marketing strategy, hindi na ganon ka realistic,” Michael V said.

“And on top of that, si Dawn Zulueta magaling na artista, respetado ng lahat, and yung acting niya pagdating sa drama hindi matatawaran,” he added.

He said since Family History is categorically a drama, Dawn is the “perfect” actress to deliver the drama aspect of the story.

Michael V also shared how he was able to relate with the character Alex dela Cruz.

“Si Alex isa siyang animator. Ang ganda ng outlook niya sa buhay, parang for him, it’s an animated world. Cartoons kasi di ba, walang problema, masaya palagi, walang namamatay, ‘yun ‘yung mundong ginagalawan niya,” he said.

“Ako, I like to think na ganoon din. Medyo ganoon ako eh, positive ako na tao eh, na as much as possible, walang problema, good vibes lang. ‘ Yun ‘ yung parang nakuha ko kay Alex at nagawa ko ‘yung character ni Alex dahil din sa pagkatao ko rin,” he added.

Joining Michael V and Dawn in the movie are Kapuso stars Miguel Tanfelix as Malix dela Cruz, Alex and May’ s only son, and Bianca Umali as Jenna Roque, Malix’ s girlfriend who longs for a family figure.

Also part of the Family History casts are John Estrada, Paolo Contis, Nonie Buencamino, Kakai Bautista, Ina Feleo, Mikoy Morales, Nikki Co, Jemwell Ventenilla, and Vince Gamad.

Primetime King Dingdong Dantes and multi-awarded comedienne and TV host Eugene Domingo play special cameo roles as Dr. Ronaldo Druz and Liza de Guzman, respectively.
