Ryan Cayabyab, RCS concert in Davao City

PHILIPPINES’ top-notch composer and conductor Ryan Cayabyab and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers (RCS) will have a concert in Davao City next month.

Cayabyab, who is also known for being a well-rounded musician, is doing the show at the Davao Convention and Trade Center along F. Torres Street on August 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The Maestro, as what the music industry calls him, has been famous for having composed the official soundtracks of several movies, including the “Kayganda ng Ating Musika” in 1976. Aside from being a prolific composer, he has also been an active figure in the country’s theatre arts.

With his undeniable contribution in the promotion of Filipino music, he was named a National Artist of the Philippines in 2018.

The Ryan Cayabyab Singers is a group of talented artists developed and nurtured by The Maestro himself. One of them is Dabawenyo singer-performer Poppet Bernadas.

Prior to forming the RCS, Mr. C created first the team of Geneva Cruz, James Coronel, Toni Lambino, and Jeffrey Hidalgo in the 90s. They were called back then as the Smokey Mountain.

As Cayabyab and the RCS are set to perform in the city next month, it will be the Dabawenyos’ chance to experience his music live once again, while helping those in need since the upcoming show is for the benefit of the Anak Kaugmaon Foundation, Incorporated. The foundation was established in 1998 to support the operations of the Southern Philippines Medical Center’s Pediatrics Department.

Tickets are available at P3,000 (limited seats only) and P1,000 (general patronage). For inquiries and ticket reservations, please contact Arlene Villanueva at (0946) 2752151 or the SPMC Pedia Office at (082) 227-2731 local 4402.
