THE second suicide bomber in the recent bombing in Indanan, Sulu was not the son of the person responsible for the July 2018 Lamitan explosion, said the Philippine National Police (PNP) Thursday, July 18.
PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde said the DNA of the second suicide bomber in Indanan did not match that of the suicide bomber in Lamitan City in Basilan.
“Based on the laboratory negative result (Hindi nagmatch ang DNA). Hindi pa siya identified or kung Filipino or foreigner,” said Albayalde.
The Indanan bombing happened on June 28 when two suicide bombers attacked the tactical command post of the Philippine Army’s 1st Brigade Combat Team in Barangay Kajatian, Indanan in Sulu. Killed were the bombers, three soldiers and three civilians.
The first suicide bomber was identified as Norman Lasuca, a full blooded Filipino, while the second bomber was a foreign-looking young man, said witnesses.
The military said the second bomber is possibly the son of the Moroccan national responsible for the Lamitan blast, as their facial features are similar.
The Lamitan blast, which killed at least 10 people and wounded nine others, happened on July 31.
Albayalde said investigators are still in the process of identifying the second bomber. (SunStar Philippines)
