Pacya: Local and student entrepreneurs to take center stage in MSME Week

THE nation’s strawberry capital will be celebrating the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development Week at the municipal gym on August 10 to 16 with the theme, “Inclusive and Sustainable Innovations for Globally Competitive MSMEs.”

Due to the inaccessibility of facilities, the secretariat of the La Trinidad MSME Council moved the event on August, which is supposed to be celebrated on the last week of based on a local ordinance.

The programs for this year, aside from the local businesspersons, give emphasis on the involvement of the youth who are into entrepreneurship especially the senior high school students in the valley.

On the first two days, Mr. Dean Cuanso of Watwatworld Studio will gather enterprisers for the 2nd Watwatworld Highland Wedding and Entrepreneurs Fair at the municipal gym. Most exhibitors will be coming from the whole of Cordillera displaying their bridal collections and other merchandises like cakes, crafts and food products. Application for stalls is still ongoing at the organizer’s office located at D&L Building 2, Pico KM5, La Trinidad. The schedule of orientation for the exhibitors will be on July 28 at the Municipal Youth Center, La Trinidad New Public Market.

Aside from the community-led event, the MSME Council will also stage a trade fair for the promotion and marketing of local products and services at the municipal gym. The fair is open to all local entrepreneurs in coordination with the Negosyo Center and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The first day will also feature local artists through a music competition. The Tourism Office is inviting musicians to register for the contest. Meanwhile, the Public Employment and Services Office will be sponsoring a job fair on the 10th and 11th.

With the aim of collaborating with the business sector, the municipal Nutrition Council will be conducting a Hataw contest for the different barangays on August 12. Simultaneous with the competition is the Token Making challenge, which is open to all La Trinidad residents.

The Local Economic Investments and Promotions Office will be spearheading the conduct of an Investment Forum. The activity aims to present the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the valley’s Investment Code to its constituents.

The week-long celebration will offer a free body-pampering activity for the exhibitors. The beneficiaries of the skills trainings previously conducted by the local government unit through the Bottom-Up Budgeting will be invited to provide services such as massage, pedicure, manicure and haircut.

The DTI will be spearheading the Product and Development Seminar and Workshop on August 14 at the Municipal Youth Center. Packaging and Labeling will be the highlights of the training and contest on the Best Packaged and Labeled product.

To give the opportunity for amateur photographers to grow, there will be a mobile photography contest which is open to all La Trinidad residents. The photo shall depict the theme or the local business industry. Entries may be submitted to ltmsmecouncil@gmail.com coupled with a description of two to four sentences.

Further, students will be invited to participate in the essay writing contest and quiz bee competitions. Mechanics and criteria shall be forwarded to the different schools for their guidance. This will test the young minds on their awareness on the business sector and it will help inspire them to give importance to the contributions of the industry in the development of the municipality.
