JAPANESE global apparel retailer Uniqlo reopens its expanded SM Lanang Premier branch Friday, July 19, its biggest store in Mindanao.

The newly-expanded shop will have a new shopping space of 1,414-square-meter (sq.m.) area from the previous 767 sq.m.

Uniqlo Philippines marketing head Camille Rose Pacis said during the media launch Wednesday, July 17, that the bigger space aims to give customers in the area a brand new shopping experience with a wider variety of clothing choices.

"Since we opened here two years ago in May 2017, we really see the potential and we appreciate it because we are seeing a lot of Davaoeños who are wearing Uniqlo Life wear," she said.

Uniqlo chief operating officer Masayoshi Nakamura, for his part, said the store will have 500 styles in its inventory.

Uniqlo entered the Davao market on May 26, 2017 in SM Lanang Premier. The Japanese apparel firm also has another branch in SM City Davao which was opened last June 2, 2017.

Pacis said that since they opened two years ago here, they already saw a huge potential for the Davao market.

Uniqlo has four branches in Mindanao, two in Davao and one each in the cities of General Santos and Cagayan de Oro.

At present, Uniqlo has a total of 57 stores in the country since 2012 and the company is eyeing to open more stores in the Philippines. However, no further details have been disclosed to the public yet.

“We can't surely say which areas yet but we will share once we are ready. We really see the economic potential and growth of Mindanao,” Pacis said.
