AFTER a series of cool, gray days, summer wrested a Sunday evening to its own warm color palette at Soleil, a fashion show of sunny hues and floral accents led by Disegno Dado and Pixie Dust Creations at The Gallery in Ayala Center Cebu.

The mother and daughter designing duo behind Soleil, Angela and Mara Dado, graduated from Fashion Institute of Design & Arts (Fida) in 2013. In the six years since then, their label, Disegno Dado, has produced several collections, and focused on bespoke bridal and formal wear.

Soleil debuted Disegno Dado’s pre-order collection of easy, versatile, and comfortable dresses and separates. As the French word implies, the color palette was all in shades lent by the sun from dusk until dawn, from vibrant gold and maroon to softer blush pink and off white. For those who have observed the Dados’ work over the years, this collection is noticeably different from the embellished, elaborate designs they usually produce. The clothes’ simple silhouettes included flowy dresses, wide-legged trousers, and tops that showed off just enough skin at the back and shoulders. “The clothes are meant to be easy and comfortable to wear, and are adapted to our tropical climate,” said Angela of the sexy but still refined pieces that will look chic on both casual days and dressier occasions.

The minimalist styles got a floral touch with Floreia statement necklaces, earrings, and head pieces, which were personally selected by Floreia managing director Katrina Delantar together with stylists Edward James Castro (who also directed the show) and Axel Que of Blaq Mafia.

The show was part of the fourth run of Threadcycle, which this year benefited the Hero Foundation, an organization that focuses on building a brighter future for the children of our country’s fallen soldiers through educational aid. The event for a cause brought together was in collaboration with Ayala Center Cebu, Origin Model Management, Chady Pantaleon, and Cris and Jana Videography.
